UAE & Global Warming

We know that global warming affects the whole word in one way or another so how does it affects the UAE? As what I said before, the increase in temperature around the world and especially in the North Pole will lead to its ice melting and a high rise sea level. Most of the UAE cities are on the coast so if there was an increase on sea level it will affect the people a lot and will cost the country to much money on building new system of traffic roads and buildings. Another affect of global warming on the UAE is the change on the climate. The temperature usually in winter goes down to 15ْ C in Abu Dhabi but this year (2007) the temperature went down to 8ْ C and goes up to 13ْ C in the morning. In Ras Al Khaimah a little snow fell on the mountains.

This article in Gulf News talks about the effects of global warming on native UAE plants and animals. Do you think that this article gives a balanced argument as to why these species are disappearing?

Well, in my opinion I think that this article is not giving a balance argument because these species are disappearing in a result of developing. I believe that the rapid developing of the UAE and its modern building causes the disappearance of these animals because they keep fixing the deserts to expand the city. This of course will destroy the animal houses’ that used to inhabit that area.

Good point, Abdulla.

Nowadays we tend to say that global warming is the cause of all our problems!

Very nice blog, by the way. I hope you keep it up!
